This easy French macaron recipe makes a batch of the most dainty, delicate, and delicious macarons that will float right into your mouth and disappear. This basic macaron recipe can be adjusted to your taste. You can use any colour you desire and any filling of your choice.

Step preview

  1. Grease and line a clean baking tray
  2. Assemble the Food Processor attachment to the machine
  3. Fit the knife blade to the Food Processor bowl
  4. Add ground almonds and icing sugar to the Food processor attachment
  5. Attach the lid and ensure it is locked into place
  6. Blend until powdery
  7. Remove the attachment from the machine
  8. Sift mixture into medium bowl then set aside
  9. Attach Whisk
  10. Add egg white to the Kenwood Bowl
  11. Whisk with splashguard fitted - 1 min, Speed Max
  12. Then add cream of tartar and pink food coloring to the Kenwood Bowl
  13. Mix with splashguard fitted - 30 sec, Speed Min
  14. Add caster sugar to the Kenwood Bowl gradually while machine is running
  15. Mix with splashguard fitted - 5 min, Speed Max
  16. Retrieve the almonds and icing sugar mixture
  17. Fold one third of mixture into meringue
  18. Fold the rest of mixture into meringue
  19. Fold until the mixture resembles flowing lava and be able to fall into a figure eight without breaking
  20. Transfer mixture to piping bag
  21. Pipe mixture onto baking tray into rounds
  22. Tap the baking tray on a counter gently several times to release any air bubbles
  23. Let rest - 1 hr
  24. Pre-heat oven - 150°C
  25. Bake - 15 min, 150°C
  26. Remove from oven and let cool
  27. Clean Kenwood Bowl
  28. Attach Creaming beater
  29. Add butter to the Kenwood Bowl
  30. Mix with splashguard fitted - 2 min, Speed Max
  31. Then add icing sugar to the Kenwood Bowl
  32. Mix with splashguard fitted - 3 min, Speed Max
  33. Transfer buttercream to piping bag
  34. Pipe the buttercream on half of the macaron shells
  35. Top with the remaining macaron shells to form a sandwich
  36. Serve
