Spiced fresh herb and chickpea patties. For this recipe it is best to use dried chickpeas and soak them overnight instead of tinned chickpeas, as the falafel will break up in the oil and fall apart if you use tinned chickpeas.

Step preview

  1. Add dried chickpeas, water and baking soda to a clean large mixing bowl
  2. Cover with plastic wrap
  3. Soak overnight
  4. Drain, rinse and pat dry
  5. Fit the Knife Blade to the Food Processor attachment
  6. Add fresh parsley, cilantro, dill, onion, garlic clove, salt, black pepper, ground cumin and ground coriander to the Food processor attachment
  7. Pulse until just combined
  8. Transfer chickpeas to Food processor attachment
  9. Pulse until combined
  10. Refrigerate - 1 hr
  11. Remove the attachment from the machine
  12. Line a clean baking tray with parchment paper
  13. Retrieve the Food Processor bowl from the fridge
  14. Add baking powder and sesame seeds to the Food processor attachment
  15. Pulse until combined
  16. Roll into balls
  17. Transfer balls to baking tray
  18. Chill in freezer until firm - 20 min
  19. Line a clean plate with paper towels
  20. Remove the falafels from the freezer
  21. Add vegetable oil to a clean large saucepan
  22. Heat - medium-high heat
  23. Fry until crispy - 4 min
  24. Using a slotted spoon, remove the falafels from the bowl and place on the plate to drain
  25. Serve
