Step preview

  1. Preheat the oven - 180ºC
  2. Grease a tin and line with parchment paper overlapping the edges
  3. Sift the ingredients into a large bowl
  4. Fit the Whisk Tool
  5. Add the ingredients into the appliance bowl
  6. Add dry ingredients
  7. Whisk - 3 minutes, speed 3
  8. Transfer the batter into prepared tin
  9. Bake until skewer inserted comes out clean - 25-30 minutes, 180ºC
  10. Remove from the oven and allow to cool in a tin - 20 minutes
  11. Lift the overhanging parchment paper and transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely
  12. Now make the coffee frosting:
  13. Clean the appliance bowl and fit the Whisk Tool
  14. Add the ingredients into a heatproof bowl
  15. Place the bowl over a pan of simmering water - 5 minutes
  16. Stir regularly until the mixture reaches 60ºC
  17. Carefully transfer the mixture into the appliance bowl, then add coffee
  18. Whisk – 1 minute, speed Max
  19. While the machine is running add cubed butter and whisk - 10 minutes, speed Max
  20. Spread the frosting evenly over the top of the cake
  21. Decorate with chocolate curls
  22. Serve
