Chocolate bark is quick and simple to make and give as gifts, here’s a candied pecan and chocolate version. Adding a pinch of sea salt at the end is recommended but entirely optional.

Step preview

  1. Preheat the oven - 160ºC
  2. Grease baking trays and line with parchment paper
  3. Add pecans to one of the baking trays and spread them out
  4. Roast until light golden - 10 minutes, 160°C
  5. Remove from the oven and set aside
  6. Pour the water into the appliance bowl first, then add the sugar, fit the splashguard
  7. Heat until the sugar has dissolved - 1 minute 30 seconds, 160°C, speed Off
  8. Cook until a caramel has formed - 8 minutes, 180°C, speed Off
  9. Then add the roasted nuts and stir with a spatula until evenly coated
  10. Quickly transfer the nuts onto the baking tray and let cool completely
  11. Once cooled, coarsely chop and set aside
  12. Clean the appliance bowl and fit the Creaming Beater
  13. Add chocolate into the appliance bowl, fit the splashguard
  14. Heat until melted - 10 minutes, 60°C, speed Stir 1
  15. Pour the melted chocolate onto the second baking tray and spread out evenly into a large rectangle
  16. Scatter the chopped nuts over the chocolate
  17. Sprinkle lightly with salt
  18. Let set at room temperature, then break into pieces
  19. Serve
