This chickpea salad is sweet, sour and spicy all at the same time, fry the chickpeas in batches to make them extra crispy. Transfer to a serving bowl or sealable picnic box, garnish with a few coriander leaves and a spoonful of yoghurt.

Step preview

  1. Line a clean plate with paper towels
  2. Attach the Stir Tool
  3. Add canola oil to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  4. Lift the Cooking Chef head and fit the heat shield
  5. Heat with splashguard fitted until hot - 1 min, 180°C, Stir 1
  6. Add canned chickpeas to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl gradually while machine is running
  7. Cook with splashguard fitted until crispy - 5 min, 180°C, Stir 1
  8. Transfer chickpeas to plate
  9. Season with chaat masala
  10. Leave to drain
  11. Assemble the Food Processor attachment to the machine
  12. Fit the knife blade to the Food Processor bowl
  13. Add mango chutney, chaat masala, mint leaves and oil to the Food processor attachment
  14. Attach the lid and ensure it is locked into place
  15. Blend until smooth
  16. Transfer content of Food processor attachment to medium bowl then set aside
  17. Add red onion, red chili, coriander, ginger and lime to the Food processor attachment
  18. Blend until just combined
  19. Transfer content of Food processor attachment to medium bowl
  20. Transfer chickpeas to medium bowl
  21. Stir until combined
  22. Season with salt and black pepper
  23. Garnish with coriander
  24. Serve
