Step preview

  1. Pre-heat oven - 180°C
  2. Line a clean baking tray with parchment paper
  3. Attach K Beater
  4. Add sausage meat, fennel seeds, chili flakes, salt, panko breadcrumbs, black pepper and water to the Kenwood Bowl
  5. Mix with splashguard fitted until combined then set aside - 2 min, Speed Min
  6. Place puff pastry on a clean lightly floured surface
  7. Roll out into a rectangle until 2mm thick
  8. Trim the edges and then cut the pastry in half lengthways
  9. Brush with some of the beaten egg
  10. Transfer content of Kenwood Bowl to work surface
  11. Roll into a log
  12. Place filling on pastry
  13. Pull the top edge over the filling, allowing the pastry to overlap slightly
  14. Seal with some of the egg
  15. Roll the pastry so the seam is on the bottom
  16. Use a fork to score the edges of the pastry
  17. Cut into individual rolls
  18. Use a sharp knife to score 4 cuts at the angle along the top
  19. Transfer rolls to baking tray
  20. Brush with egg
  21. Sprinkle with sunflower seeds
  22. Repeat the process with any excess filling or pastry
  23. Bake until golden brown - 30 min, 180°C
  24. Remove from oven and let cool
  25. Serve
