Step preview

  1. Making the cake:
  2. Preheat the oven - 175ºC
  3. Grease a tin and line with parchment paper overlapping the edges
  4. Fit the K-Beater
  5. Add the ingredients into the appliance bowl
  6. Mix and then scrape the bowl – 3 minutes, speed 4
  7. While the machine is running, gradually add eggs and mix – 2 minutes, speed Min
  8. Add the next ingredients
  9. Mix – 30 seconds, speed Min
  10. Then add the next ingredients
  11. Mix – 1 minute, speed Min
  12. Transfer the batter into the tin
  13. Bake until a skewer inserted comes out clean – 30-35 minutes, 175ºC
  14. Remove from the oven and let cool completely
  15. Making the lemon buttercream:
  16. Clean the appliance bowl and fit the K-Beater
  17. Add the ingredients into the appliance bowl, fit the splashguard
  18. Mix and then scrape the bowl - 2 minutes, speed 3
  19. Mix – 2 minutes, speed 1
  20. Making the lemon syrup:
  21. Add the ingredients into a jug
  22. Mix until the sugar has dissolved and set aside
  23. Assemble the cake:
  24. Using a skewer, poke holes all over the cake
  25. Pour the lemon syrup all over the cake
  26. Spread the lemon buttercream over the top evenly
  27. Decorate with a few slices of lemon
  28. Serve
