This is a quick version of Chinese savoury pancakes, which can be served as a side dish or starter and are made with only a few ingredients. If you do not have all of the sauces for the dipping sauce, simply serve with chilli oil or soy sauce instead.

Step preview

  1. Attach the Whisk
  2. Add plain flour, water, chinese five spice and salt to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  3. Lift the Cooking Chef head and fit the heat shield
  4. Mix with splashguard fitted until combined - approx 30 sec, Speed 5
  5. Let rest - 20 min
  6. Add spring onion to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  7. Mix with splashguard fitted until combined - approx 15 sec, Speed 4
  8. Add vegetable oil to a clean frying pan
  9. Heat in frying pan - medium-high heat
  10. Ladle batter into frying pan
  11. Cook in frying pan until golden brown - approx 4 min
  12. Transfer content of frying pan to serving plate
  13. Repeat the process with the remaining batter
  14. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, chilli oil, spring onion, coriander and red chili to a clean small bowl
  15. Stir until combined
  16. Serve
