This a rich and comforting dish. Slow cooking makes the beef wonderfully tender and marinade helps to keep the meat succulent, as well as adding flavour. To marinade the beef, add the red wine in a bowl with the beef and marinade overnight for 12 hours. Re-use the wine later in the recipe towards the end.

Step preview

  1. Fit thick slicing disc (5) to direct prep attachment
  2. Fit direct prep attachment to kCook Multi
  3. Add beef cheek and red wine to a clean bowl
  4. Leave to macerate overnight or for at least 12 hours
  5. Place a colander over a medium bowl
  6. Strain content of bowl into colander then set aside
  7. Fit stir tool to kCook bowl
  8. Add olive oil to the kCook bowl
  9. Fit kCook bowl to kCook Multi
  10. Attach lid to kCook bowl
  11. Cook with filler cap removed - approx 30 sec, 140°C, speed 3
  12. Transfer meat to kCook bowl
  13. Cook with filler cap removed - 2 min, 140°C, speed 2
  14. Cook with filler cap removed - 5 min, 150°C, speed 2
  15. Turn direct prep attachment to position 1
  16. Slice carrot, celery stalk and onion into the kCook bowl with direct prep attachment
  17. Turn direct prep attachment to position 2
  18. Add garlic clove, orange, cornflour, black peppercorns, fresh thyme and bay leaves to the kCook bowl
  19. Cook with filler cap removed - 5 min, 140°C, speed 1
  20. Season
  21. Transfer reserved wine in the kCook bowl
  22. Cook with filler cap removed - 1 hr, 98°C, speed 1
  23. Serve
