These chewy Neapolitan biscuits are deliciously fragrant with honey, almonds, and spices, and are extremely popular during the Christmas season. Shaped into an ‘S’, susamielli are often baked at home and eaten by dipping into a glass of Marsala or another sweet wine.

Step preview

  1. Preheat the oven - 175ºC
  2. Line a baking tray with parchment paper
  3. Fit the Creaming Beater
  4. Add the ingredients into the appliance bowl, fit the splashguard
  5. Cook until simmering - 6 minutes, 140ºC speed Stir 1
  6. Allow to cool – 5 minutes
  7. Add the next ingredients
  8. Mix – 1 minute, speed Min
  9. Add the next ingredients into a large bowl and mix until well combined
  10. Add the content of the large bowl into the appliance bowl
  11. Mix – 1 minute, speed Min
  12. Let rest – 10 minutes
  13. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured worksurface and divide into 16 equal pieces
  14. Roll each piece of dough into 15 cm log and form into ‘s’ shape
  15. Transfer onto prepared baking tray and brush with water
  16. Bake – 15 minutes, 175ºC
  17. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely
  18. Serve
