Biscotti, known also as Cantucci, is a twice baked Italian biscuit usually served in Italy with a Tuscan wine called Vin Santo or served elsewhere with coffee. There are many variations, this recipe is flavoured with chocolate chips, orange zest, and we also added hazelnuts. It would make a festive homemade gift for Christmas. Because they are twice baked, these biscuits can keep well in an airtight container for a few weeks, they can also be frozen.

Step preview

  1. Preheat an oven - 180ºC
  2. Line baking trays with parchment paper
  3. Fit the K-Beater
  4. Add all the ingredients into the appliance bowl
  5. Mix until combined - 1 minute 30 seconds, speed 1
  6. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured work surface and roll into a log
  7. Place the shaped dough onto the baking tray
  8. Bake until firm to touch - 20 minutes, 180ºC
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool
  10. Using a serrated knife, cut the biscotti into 1 cm wide fingers
  11. Place the biscotti slices flat on the baking trays and space them apart
  12. Bake hard to touch - 15 minutes, 120ºC
  13. Remove from the oven and let cool
  14. Serve
