Army base stew, or budae-jjigae, is a Korean American fusion dish that was created during the Korean war. Ingredients such as spam, hot dogs and baked beans brought over by US soldiers found their way into Korean homes, where they were put to use in stews and soups and remain popular ingredients in Korea today. The result is a spicy and salty stew like you’ve never tried before – but delicious all the same!
