Wontons are a variety of thin-skinned dumplings with meat, seafood or vegetable filling enclosed in tender wheat dough wrappers. Originating from China, Wontons have also become popular in other East and Southeast Asian cuisines. These Crispy Fried Wontons are packed with juicy pork and prawn inside a crispy coating, making these addictive little bites irresistibly delicious. You can make these ahead and fry it just before serving. Perfect as an appetizer or finger food to serve at your parties, dinners, or gatherings!

Step preview

  1. Knife blade (or Max blade for kCook)
  2. Add the ingredients into the appliance bowl, attach the lid without the filler cap
  3. Mix until combined - 1 minute, speed 5
  4. Place a wonton wrapper onto a clean work surface in a diamond shape
  5. Spoon 1 tsp of filling into the center of each wrapper
  6. Dip your finger into a bowl of water and moisten the edges of the wrapper
  7. Fold the wrapper in half and press down to seal
  8. Flip the dumpling over and dab a little water on the two outer points
  9. Bring them together and press down to seal
  10. Repeat the same process with the rest of wrappers and filling
  11. Fill a large, heavy-based saucepan with oil, no more than 1/3 full
  12. Heat until the oil reaches 160ºC or until bubbling gently - high heat
  13. Fry the dumplings in batches, turning occasionally, until golden - 3-4 minutes
  14. Serve
