A simple classic loaf using wholemeal brown flour and topped with seeds. You can use any combination of seeds such as pumpkin, poppy, sesame, sunflower. Perfect for sandwiches, served with soup or toasted.

Step preview

  1. Grease and flour a clean loaf pan
  2. Attach Spiral Dough Tool
  3. Add salt, dried yeast, bread flour, water, wholemeal flour and mixed seeds to the Kenwood Bowl
  4. Mix - 2 min, Speed 1
  5. Mix - 8 min, Speed 2
  6. Cover with kitchen towel
  7. Prove - 1 hr
  8. Transfer content of Kenwood Bowl to lightly floured surface
  9. Pull the edges of the dough into the centre
  10. Transfer dough to loaf pan
  11. Cover with kitchen towel
  12. Prove - 1 hr
  13. Pre-heat oven - 220°C
  14. Remove the tea towel and spray the dough with salted water
  15. Bake - 25 min, 220°C
  16. To check if the loaf is cooked, gently tap the bottom of the loaf. If the bread sounds hollow it's cooked, place it on a cooling rack. If not place it back in the oven for a few minutes
  17. Let cool on round wire rack
  18. Serve
