A beautiful braided bread made from enriched dough and topped with pearl sugar.

Ingredients
Milk

Unsalted butter

Plain flour

Butter

Salt
1 ½ teaspoons
Pearl sugar

Step preview
Line a clean baking sheet with parchment paper
Attach Spiral Dough Tool
Add milk, dried yeast, sugar, plain flour, butter, egg and salt to the Kenwood Bowl
Mix then scrape bowl - 5 min, Speed 2
Add unsalted butter to the Kenwood Bowl bit by bit while machine is running
Mix then scrape bowl - 5 min, Speed 2
Cover with kitchen towel
Prove - 1 hr 30 min
Carefully transfer the dough from the Kenwood mixer bowl to a lightly floured work surface
Gently pull the edges into the centre
Roll the dough out to elongate
Divide into 3 equal pieces
Cover with kitchen towel
Let rest - 10 min
Pre-heat oven - 200°C
Roll out each dough piece into a long even rope
Plait the 3 dough ropes
Tuck the ends underneath to secure
Place plait on lined baking sheet
Brush with egg
Sprinkle with pearl sugar
Bake - 30 min, 200°C
To check if the loaf is cooked, gently tap the bottom of the loaf. If the bread sounds hollow it's cooked, place it on a cooling rack. If not place it back in the oven for a few minutes
