This steamed pudding takes a little more effort than a normal cake, but it is well worth it. Serve with chocolate sauce, cream, or custard.

Step preview

  1. Grease a clean pudding bowl
  2. Add butter, golden syrup and muscovado sugar to a clean saucepan
  3. Heat until melted - medium heat
  4. Attach K Beater
  5. Add milk, egg, cocoa powder, ground cinnamon, bicarbonate of soda, plain flour and baking powder to the Kenwood Bowl
  6. Transfer content of saucepan to Kenwood Bowl
  7. Mix - 1 min, Speed Min
  8. Transfer content of Kenwood Bowl to pudding bowl
  9. Lay a piece of foil on a work surface
  10. Lay a piece of parchment paper on top
  11. Fold a seam in the middle
  12. Place over the pudding bowl, foil side up
  13. Tie a piece of string around the bowl, use more string to make a handle on top of the bowl
  14. Place the pudding bowl into a large saucepan
  15. Pour hot water into the saucepan so it reaches halfway up the pudding bowl
  16. Place the saucepan on a medium high heat so the water simmers and cover with a lid
  17. Steam - 1 hr 15 min
  18. Serve
