This delicious chocolate mousse cake can be made a couple of days in advance and kept in the fridge. Serve with fresh fruit or our hot mocha sauce.

Step preview

  1. Pre-heat oven - 180°C
  2. Line a clean round pan with parchment paper then set aside
  3. Attach the Creaming Beater
  4. Add cocoa powder and water to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  5. Lift the Cooking Chef head and fit the heat shield
  6. Mix with splashguard fitted - 1 min, 60°C, Speed Min
  7. Then add caster sugar, butter, all purpose flour, baking powder and egg to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  8. Mix with splashguard fitted - 1 min, Speed Max
  9. Transfer content of Cooking Chef XL Bowl to round pan
  10. Spread until level
  11. Bake - 25 min, 180°C
  12. Remove from oven
  13. Brush with kahlua
  14. Let cool completely
  15. Clean Cooking Chef bowl
  16. Attach the Creaming Beater
  17. Add dark chocolate to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  18. Mix with splashguard fitted until melted - 10 min, 60°C, Stir 1
  19. Transfer content of Cooking Chef XL Bowl to small bowl
  20. Clean Cooking Chef bowl
  21. Attach the Whisk
  22. Add whipping cream to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  23. Whisk with splashguard fitted until stiff peaks form - 30 sec, Speed Max
  24. Remove the bowl from the machine
  25. Transfer chocolate mixture to Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  26. Fold carefully until well combined
  27. Transfer content of Cooking Chef XL Bowl to round pan
  28. Spread the chocolate cream over the cooled cake until level
  29. Cover with plastic wrap
  30. Chill in fridge until set - approx 4 hr
  31. Turn out cake onto serving plate carefully
  32. Dust with cocoa powder
  33. Serve
