Step preview

  1. Pre-heat oven - 175°C
  2. Grease and line 2 clean round pans with parchment paper
  3. Attach K Beater
  4. Add caster sugar and butter to the Kenwood bowl
  5. Mix with splashguard fitted - 30 sec, Speed 3
  6. Mix with splashguard fitted - 1 min, Speed Max
  7. Then add egg, milk, all purpose flour, baking powder and vanilla extract to the Kenwood bowl
  8. Mix with splashguard fitted - 20 sec, Speed 3
  9. Mix with splashguard fitted then scrape bowl - 30 sec, Speed Max
  10. Mix with splashguard fitted - 10 sec, Speed Max
  11. Divide content of Kenwood Bowl between 2 round pans and level
  12. Bake until skewer tests clean - 20 min, 175°C
  13. Remove the cakes from the oven and let cool
  14. Place one of the sponges on a serving plate
  15. Spread with strawberry jam
  16. Place the second sponge on top
  17. Push down gently to sandwich both halves together
  18. Dust with icing sugar
  19. Serve
