A fun Easter cake for all the family. You can make the cake in a tube pan or a regular round pan and cut a whole in the centre once baked. Decorate with shop bought chocolate eggs and chocolate hen and serve with custard or whipped cream. User generated recipes have not been re-tested by Kenwood.

Step preview

  1. Pre-heat oven - 180°C
  2. Grease and flour a clean ring cake mold then set aside
  3. Attach the Creaming Beater
  4. Add dark chocolate and butter to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  5. Lift the Cooking Chef head and fit the heat shield
  6. Mix with splashguard fitted until melted - 10 min, 60°C, Stir 1
  7. Mix with splashguard fitted until smooth - 1 min, Speed 2
  8. Transfer content of Cooking Chef XL Bowl to large mixing bowl then set aside
  9. Clean Cooking Chef bowl
  10. Attach the Whisk
  11. Add egg yolk and caster sugar to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  12. Whisk with splashguard fitted until slightly white and thick - 2 min, Speed Max
  13. Transfer chocolate mixture to Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  14. Whisk with splashguard fitted until combined - 1 min, Speed 1
  15. Then sift all purpose flour and baking powder into the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  16. Whisk with splashguard fitted until combined - 1 min, Speed 1
  17. Transfer content of Cooking Chef XL Bowl to large mixing bowl then set aside
  18. Clean Cooking Chef bowl
  19. Attach the Whisk
  20. Add egg white to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  21. Whisk with splashguard fitted - 1 min 15 sec, Speed Max
  22. Transfer egg whites to chocolate mixture
  23. Fold gently until well combined
  24. Pour mixture into ring cake mold
  25. Bake - 15 min, 180°C
  26. Remove from oven and let cool
  27. Turn out onto cooling rack and let cool
  28. Transfer cake to serving plate
  29. Add chocolate spread to a clean piping bag
  30. Pipe chocolate onto cake
  31. Decorate with chocolate eggs and chocolate
  32. Serve
