Pastitsio is a Greek dish with layers of minced meat and pasta topped with bechamel sauce and cheese which is then baked in the oven. This recipe is easy to make and would make a nice change from the usual pasta bake recipe.

Step preview

  1. Fit thick slicing disc (5) to direct prep attachment
  2. Fit direct prep attachment to kCook Multi
  3. Fit stir tool to kCook bowl
  4. Add olive oil to the kCook bowl
  5. Fit kCook bowl to kCook Multi
  6. Attach lid to kCook bowl
  7. Heat with filler cap removed - 140°C, speed 3
  8. Turn direct prep attachment to position 1
  9. Slice red onion and red bell pepper into the kCook bowl with direct prep attachment
  10. Turn direct prep attachment to position 2
  11. Add garlic clove, fresh rosemary, fresh oregano and fresh thyme to the kCook bowl
  12. Season
  13. Cook with filler cap removed - 5 min, 140°C, speed 3
  14. Turn direct prep attachment to position 1
  15. Add black olives to the kCook bowl with direct prep attachment
  16. Turn direct prep attachment to position 2
  17. Add ground lamb, bay leaves, tomato paste and canned chopped tomatoes to the kCook bowl
  18. Cook with filler cap removed - 15 min, 98°C, speed 4
  19. Season to taste
  20. Pre-heat oven - 180°C
  21. Add pasta to a clean baking dish
  22. Transfer half of content of kCook bowl to baking dish
  23. Layer with pasta
  24. Transfer the rest of content of kCook bowl to baking dish
  25. Pour béchamel sauce into the baking dish
  26. Top with mozzarella cheese and feta cheese
  27. Season
  28. Bake until golden brown - 25 min, 190°C
  29. Serve
