Step preview

  1. Pre-heat oven - 160°C
  2. Grease and line a clean rectangular pan with parchment paper
  3. Attach K Beater
  4. Add butter, treacle, all purpose flour, baking powder, mixed spice, allspice, egg, milk, light muscovado sugar and stem ginger to the Kenwood bowl
  5. Mix with splashguard fitted until combined then scrape bowl - 3 min, Speed 2
  6. Mix with splashguard fitted until well combined - 1 min, Speed 2
  7. Pour content of Kenwood bowl into rectangular pan
  8. Level with a spatula
  9. Bake until skewer tests clean - 40 min, 160°C
  10. Remove from oven and let cool
  11. Transfer onto cooling rack until completely cool
  12. Add icing sugar and stem ginger syrup to a clean small bowl
  13. Mix until dissolved
  14. Pour mixture into cake
  15. Decorate with stem ginger
  16. Serve
