Once made, you can then whisk in your flavourings such as vanilla, cocoa, fruit jams, nougat, etc. Pay attention to the right temperature of the ingredients so the buttercream doesn't get lumpy or curdles. Because of the different components, it is quite likely that your buttercream may curdle. But don't panic! If it has indeed curdled, set the temperature to 30 °C and beat the cream until all ingredients have combined to a smooth mixture.
