Step preview

  1. Attach the K-Beater
  2. Add butter, caster sugar, all purpose flour and baking powder to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  3. Lift the Cooking Chef head and fit the heat shield
  4. Mix with splashguard fitted until crumbs form - 2 min, Speed 1
  5. Then add egg to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  6. Mix with splashguard fitted until dough forms - 1 min, Speed 1
  7. Transfer dough to work surface
  8. Flatten the dough with the palm of your hand
  9. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin between 2 sheets of parchment paper
  10. Chill in fridge - 1 hr
  11. Line a round pan with the pastry
  12. Chill in freezer and continue
  13. Clean Cooking Chef bowl
  14. Attach the Creaming Beater
  15. Add egg and caster sugar to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  16. Mix with splashguard fitted - 1 min, Speed 2
  17. Then add cornflour to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  18. Mix with splashguard fitted - 1 min, Speed 2
  19. Then add vanilla seeds & pod and whole milk to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  20. Mix with splashguard fitted - 8 min, 120°C, Speed Min
  21. Then add whipping cream to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  22. Mix with splashguard fitted until combined - 10 sec, Speed 1
  23. Remove the vanilla pod from the mixture
  24. Pour into the previously frozen pastry case
  25. Pre-heat oven - 220°C
  26. Bake - 30 min, 220°C
  27. Remove from oven
  28. Cover with parchment paper
  29. Bake - 10 min, 240°C
  30. Remove from oven and let cool
  31. When completely cold, remove from the mould
  32. Chill in fridge - 2 hr
  33. Serve
