Dorayaki is a type of Japanese confection that is wildly popular amongst children and adults alike in Japan. It consists of two small pancakes, sandwiched with a variety of fillings (red bean paste, chocolate spread, custard). We have used chocolate spread as our choice of filling; however, you can use any filling you desire

Step preview

  1. Attach Whisk
  2. Add egg, caster sugar, honey and water to the Kenwood Bowl
  3. Mix with splashguard fitted until combined - 1 min, Speed Max
  4. Then sift all purpose flour and baking powder into the Kenwood Bowl
  5. Mix with splashguard fitted until well combined - 30 sec, Speed Max
  6. Transfer mixture to jug
  7. Cover with plastic wrap
  8. Chill in fridge - 15 min
  9. Retrieve the jug from the fridge
  10. Heat a clean frying pan - medium-low heat
  11. Grease with vegetable oil
  12. Spoon some of the batter into frying pan
  13. Cook each side until golden brown - 1 min
  14. Transfer the pancake onto a serving plate
  15. Repeat the same process with the rest of the batter
  16. Take one pancake
  17. Spread with chocolate spread evenly
  18. Place another pancake on top
  19. Repeat with remaining pancakes
  20. Serve
