These cupcakes are made with fresh strawberries and are simple to make and decorate. Older children can help with decoration, we've decorated ours with half a strawberry, but you can be as creative as you like.

Step preview

  1. Pre-heat oven - 180°C
  2. Line 2 clean cupcake pans
  3. Attach Creaming beater
  4. Add unsalted butter and golden caster sugar to the Kenwood Bowl
  5. Mix with splashguard fitted until smooth - 3 min, Speed 3
  6. Then add egg, all purpose flour, baking powder and vanilla extract to the Kenwood Bowl
  7. Mix with splashguard fitted until combined - 2 min, Speed 2
  8. Then add strawberries to the Kenwood Bowl
  9. Mix with splashguard fitted until combined - 1 min, Speed Min
  10. Spoon content of Kenwood Bowl into 2 cupcake pans
  11. Bake - 15 min, 180°C
  12. Remove from oven and let cool
  13. Clean Kenwood Bowl
  14. Attach Creaming beater
  15. Add butter, icing sugar, vanilla extract and milk to the Kenwood Bowl
  16. Mix with splashguard fitted until combined then scrape bowl - 2 min, Speed 2
  17. Mix with splashguard fitted until smooth - 4 min, Speed 4
  18. Then add strawberries to the Kenwood Bowl
  19. Mix with splashguard fitted until combined - 2 min, Speed 4
  20. Transfer icing to piping bag
  21. Pipe the icing onto the cooled cupcakes
  22. Decorate with strawberries
  23. Serve
