A richly flavoured dish consisting of spiced minced beef and aubergine served on top of pieces of toasted flatbread, topped with a yoghurt sauce, pomegranate seeds, toasted pine nuts and fresh mint. This recipe uses the food mincer attachment to mince diced beef.

Step preview

  1. Attach the Food Mincer attachment and fit the Medium screen
  2. Place the mixing bowl underneath the Food Mincer attachment
  3. Add lean diced beef to the Food Mincer attachment gradually
  4. Start the machine on speed 4
  5. Using the pusher, gently push the food down the feed tube
  6. Remove the attachment from the machine
  7. Add olive oil to a clean frying pan
  8. Heat until hot - medium-high heat
  9. Add onion to the frying pan
  10. Sauté until softened - 5 min
  11. Add eggplant to the frying pan
  12. Cook until softened while stirring occasionally - 10 min
  13. Transfer the minced beef into the frying pan
  14. Add ground cumin, ground coriander, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, Aleppo pepper flakes and salt to the frying pan
  15. Cook while stirring occasionally - 5 min, high heat
  16. Cook until cooked through - 10 min, medium heat
  17. Pre-heat oven - 180°C
  18. Place pita bread on a clean baking tray
  19. Bake until toasted - 10 min, 180°C
  20. Transfer bread to serving plate then set aside
  21. Add water to a clean saucepan
  22. Add greek yogurt, lemon, garlic clove, tahini and salt to a clean heatproof bowl
  23. Place the heatproof bowl over the saucepan
  24. Heat until warm while stirring frequently - 10 min, low heat
  25. Remove from the heat and set aside
  26. Transfer meat to serving plate
  27. Top meat with yogurt
  28. Garnish with pomegranate seeds, pine nuts and fresh mint
  29. Serve
