Step preview

  1. Pre-heat oven - 180°C
  2. Line a clean baking tray with parchment paper
  3. Attach the K-Beater
  4. Add sausage meat, fennel seeds, salt, black pepper, breadcrumbs and water to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  5. Lift the Cooking Chef head and fit the heat shield
  6. Mix with splashguard fitted until combined then set aside - 2 min, Speed Min
  7. Place puff pastry on a clean lightly floured surface
  8. Roll out into a rectangle until 2mm thick
  9. Trim the edges and then cut the pastry in half lengthways
  10. Brush with some of the beaten egg
  11. Transfer content of Cooking Chef XL Bowl to work surface
  12. Roll into a log
  13. Place filling on pastry
  14. Brush with egg
  15. Pull the top edge over the filling, allowing the pastry to overlap slightly
  16. Roll the pastry so the seam is on the bottom
  17. Use a fork to score the edges of the pastry
  18. Cut into individual rolls, about 8cm
  19. Use a sharp knife to score 4 cuts at the angle along the top of each sausage roll
  20. Transfer rolls to baking tray
  21. Brush the top of each roll with the remaining egg wash
  22. Sprinkle with sunflower seeds
  23. Repeat the process with any excess filling or pastry
  24. Bake until golden brown - 30 min, 180°C
  25. Remove from oven and let cool
  26. Serve
