Spiced fresh herb and chickpea patties, fried for a crispy outside and fluffy inside. Make ahead and place the formed falafels in the freezer before cooking. For this recipe, you need to use dried chickpeas that will require soaking overnight.

Step preview

  1. Soaking the chickpeas:
  2. Add the ingredients into a medium bowl
  3. Add water until the chickpeas are fully covered
  4. Cover with plastic wrap and soak overnight
  5. Drain, rinse and pat dry the chickpeas
  6. Making the falafels:
  7. Fit the blade to the Food Processor attachment
  8. Add the ingredients into the attachment
  9. Pulse until coarsely chopped
  10. Then add the soaked chickpeas
  11. Blend until combined
  12. Transfer the chickpea mixture to a medium bowl and chill in the fridge - 1 hour
  13. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and set aside
  14. Fit the Creaming Beater
  15. Add the chickpea mixture and the ingredients into the appliance bowl, fit the splashguard
  16. Mix until combined - 30 seconds, speed 1
  17. Roll the mixture into balls, about 5cm
  18. Place the balls onto the baking tray
  19. Chill in the fridge - 30 minutes
  20. Line a plate with paper towel and set aside
  21. Clean the appliance bowl
  22. Add oil into the appliance bowl, fit the splashguard
  23. Heat until hot - 1 minute, 180ºC, speed Off
  24. Carefully place the falafels into the appliance bowl, about 4 at a time
  25. Fry until brown and crispy - 4 minutes, 180ºC, speed Off
  26. Remove the falafels with a slotted spoon and drain on the lined plate
  27. Repeat with the rest of the falafels - 4 minutes, 180ºC, speed Off
  28. Serve
