A quick, fun bake to cook with children for Halloween, transforming simple chocolate chip cookies into creepy crawly treats. For this recipe we have used dark chocolate covered honeycomb balls to create the spider's body, then we have piped chocolate and royal icing for the details, you will need two piping bags and a small round piping tip, or you can cut a very narrow opening when cutting the tip open on the piping bags.

Step preview

  1. Line a clean baking tray with parchment paper
  2. Attach Creaming beater
  3. Add unsalted butter, light brown sugar and caster sugar to the EasyWarm Bowl
  4. Mix with splashguard fitted - 2 min, Speed 2
  5. Then add all purpose flour, chocolate chips, egg, baking powder and salt to the EasyWarm Bowl
  6. Mix with splashguard fitted - 30 sec, Speed 2
  7. Remove the dough from the bowl
  8. Wrap with plastic wrap
  9. Chill in fridge - 1 hr
  10. Pre-heat oven - 170°C
  11. Place dough on lightly floured surface
  12. Roll into balls
  13. Place dough balls on baking tray
  14. Bake until light golden - 10 min, 170°C
  15. Remove from oven and let cool
  16. Clean EasyWarm Bowl
  17. Attach Whisk
  18. Add egg white and icing sugar to the EasyWarm Bowl
  19. Mix with splashguard fitted - 30 sec, Speed Max
  20. Transfer icing to piping bag then set aside
  21. Clean EasyWarm Bowl
  22. Attach Creaming beater
  23. Add dark chocolate to the EasyWarm Bowl
  24. Heat with splashguard fitted until melted - 10 min, 7, Speed 1
  25. Let cool slightly
  26. Transfer chocolate to piping bag
  27. Use the melted chocolate to pipe 8 legs of the spider onto the cookies
  28. Top with chocolate balls
  29. Pipe stripes or spots onto the body
  30. Pipe dots on the heads for the eyes
  31. Use the melted chocolate to pipe pupils onto the eyes
  32. Decorate the reserved cookies with spider webs
  33. Let set
  34. Serve
