Step preview

  1. Attach the Dough Tool
  2. Add milk, butter and sugar to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  3. Lift the Cooking Chef head and fit the heat shield
  4. Mix with splashguard fitted - 4 min, 35°C, Speed Min
  5. Then add quick-rise yeast, all purpose flour, egg and salt to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl
  6. Mix with splashguard fitted - 1 min, Speed 1
  7. Mix with splashguard fitted - 2 min, Speed 2
  8. Add unsalted butter to the Cooking Chef XL Bowl gradually while machine is running
  9. Mix with splashguard fitted then scrape bowl - 7 min, Speed 2
  10. Transfer the dough onto a work surface
  11. Grease the appliance bowl
  12. Return the dough to the bowl
  13. Remove the Dough Tool
  14. Prove with splashguard fitted - 1 hr 30 min, 30°C, Speed OFF
  15. Transfer dough to lightly floured surface
  16. Gently pull the edges into the centre
  17. Roll the dough over and shape into a log
  18. Divide into 3 equal pieces
  19. Cover with kitchen towel
  20. Let rest - 20 min
  21. Line a clean baking tray with parchment paper
  22. Roll each piece of dough into a log
  23. Transfer shaped dough to baking tray
  24. Pinch the ropes together at one end and braid the dough
  25. Tuck the ends under the loaf
  26. Cover with kitchen towel
  27. Let rest - 30 min
  28. Pre-heat oven - 200°C
  29. Uncover the dough
  30. Brush with egg
  31. Sprinkle with pearl sugar
  32. Bake until light golden - 25 min, 200°C
  33. Remove from oven and let cool
  34. Serve
