These chewy Neapolitan biscuits are deliciously fragrant with honey, almonds, and spices, and are extremely popular during the Christmas season. Shaped into an ‘S’, susamielli are often baked at home and eaten by dipping into a glass of Marsala or another sweet wine.

Step preview
- Preheat the oven - 175ºC
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper
- Fit the Creaming Beater
- Add the ingredients into the appliance bowl, fit the splashguard
- Cook until simmering - 6 minutes, 140ºC speed Stir 1
- Allow to cool – 5 minutes
- Add the next ingredients
- Mix – 1 minute, speed Min
- Add the next ingredients into a large bowl and mix until well combined
- Add the content of the large bowl into the appliance bowl
- Mix – 1 minute, speed Min
- Let rest – 10 minutes
- Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured worksurface and divide into 16 equal pieces
- Roll each piece of dough into 15 cm log and form into ‘s’ shape
- Transfer onto prepared baking tray and brush with water
- Bake – 15 minutes, 175ºC
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely
- Serve
