Neula, also known as "neules" or "canutillos," are a traditional Catalan pastry delicacy with a delightful combination of flavours and textures. These thin, crispy, and intricately patterned rolled wafers are often enjoyed during festive occasions and celebrations. Neulas are typically made from a simple dough of flour, sugar, and oil or butter, which is carefully rolled out, cut into strips, and then intricately shaped before baking until golden and crispy. The result is a delectable treat that offers a satisfying crunch and a subtle sweetness, making them a delightful addition to dessert spreads or as a standalone treat.
