Traditional Portuguese custard tarts, these would make a lovely afternoon treat for Mother's Day. For this recipe, we have used pre-rolled puff pastry. Alternatively, you can make your own puff pastry, you will just need to roll it out very thinly.

Step preview

  1. Grease a clean cupcake pan then set aside
  2. Add puff pastry to a clean lightly floured surface
  3. Roll into a log
  4. Cut into pieces
  5. Transfer dough to cupcake pan
  6. Press firmly until desired shape
  7. Repeat with the rest
  8. Chill in fridge and continue
  9. Add milk and cornflour to a clean jug
  10. Mix with tablespoon until combined
  11. Add cinnamon stick to the milk mixture
  12. Set aside and continue
  13. Pre-heat oven - 240°C
  14. Fit stir tool to kCook bowl
  15. Add egg yolk and caster sugar to the kCook bowl
  16. Fit kCook bowl to kCook Multi
  17. Attach lid to kCook bowl
  18. Mix with filler cap removed - 2 min 30 sec, speed 6
  19. Pour milk mixture into kCook bowl carefully
  20. Heat with filler cap removed - 7 min, 85°C, speed 4
  21. Strain content of kCook bowl into jug slowly
  22. Pour custard into cupcake pan evenly
  23. Bake until golden brown - 15 min, 240°C
  24. Let cool - approx 5 min
  25. Serve
