A simple classic loaf, perfect for sandwiches, served with soup or toasted. If you do not have a banneton you could place this in a 500g loaf tin.

Step preview
- Attach Spiral Dough Tool
- Add bread flour, salt, olive oil, water and quick-rise yeast to the Kenwood Bowl
- Mix - 2 min, Speed 1
- Mix - 8 min, Speed 2
- Check the dough, it must be flexible and homogenous
- Cover with kitchen towel
- Prove until doubled - 1 hr
- Transfer dough to lightly floured surface carefully
- Gently pull the edges into the centre
- Roll the dough over and make into a loaf shape
- Transfer shaped dough to proofing basket
- Cover the dough with a damp tea towel and place in a warm, draught free place
- Prove until doubled - 1 hr
- Pre-heat oven - 220°C
- Flour a clean baking tray
- Place a small oven proof container filled with boiling water at the bottom of the oven
- Retrieve the dough and remove the tea towel
- Transfer shaped dough to baking tray
- Use a sharp knife or blade to make slashes
- Bake until hollow-sounding when tapped - 25 min, 220°C
- Remove from oven and let cool
- Serve
