Step preview

  1. Grease a clean loaf pan
  2. Attach Spiral Dough Tool
  3. Add all purpose flour, dried yeast, caster sugar, salt, egg and milk to the Kenwood Bowl
  4. Mix - 5 min, Speed 1
  5. Add butter to the Kenwood Bowl bit by bit while machine is running
  6. Mix - 5 min, Speed 1
  7. Cover with kitchen towel
  8. Prove until doubled in size - 1 hr 30 min
  9. Transfer the dough from the Mixer bowl to a lightly floured work surface
  10. Gently pull the edges into the centre to form a ball
  11. Gently roll the dough out into a log shape
  12. Divide into 10 equal pieces
  13. Let rest - 10 min
  14. Take one piece of dough, place it under the palm of your hand
  15. Gently apply a little pressure and rotate your hand slowly bring your fingers inward, to make a ball shape
  16. Repeat this action with the rest of the dough pieces
  17. Place the dough balls in 2 rows of 5 in the loaf tin
  18. Cover with kitchen towel
  19. Prove until doubled in size - 1 hr 30 min
  20. Pre-heat oven - 180°C
  21. Add egg and milk to a clean small bowl
  22. Mix until combined
  23. Brush the egg mixture over the top of the dough
  24. Bake - 30 min, 180°C
  25. To check if the loaf is cooked, gently tap the bottom of the loaf. If the bread sounds hollow it's cooked, place it on a cooling rack. If not place it back in the oven for a few minutes
  26. Serve
